Vedanta Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition Telling Stories, a group exhibition including work by Danielle Gustafson-Sundell, Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler, Ann Lislegaard, Sharon Lockhart, James Rielly, Matthew Ronay, Nedko Solakov and Ed van der Elsken.

Telling Stories combines artists whose work explores the fine line that exists between fiction and non-fiction and the way the two entangle and influence one another. Memories of places, time and people pass by quietly and stories from the media, personal fantasies, daydreams and anecdotes blur with reality.

The photographs of Sharon Lockhart, Ann Lislegaard and Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler exploit the duality of photography's inherent complexity of existing somewhere between documentation and fiction. James Rielly's paintings include images of children stolen from media tabloids existing as quiet traces of neglected youth. Matthew Ronay and Danielle Gustafson-Sundell create sculptures that use formalism to illustrate personal narrative. Nedko Solakov's intimate works on paper contain odd stories coupled with exquisite ink drawings. Finally we will be exhibiting the films of Ed van der Elsken, the dutch photographer who died over a decade ago. His films document life in its sincere totality including the last two years before the artist's death.
